Sidbury Fireworks

5 November Sidbury, Devon

The spectacular Sidbury Fireworks this year raised money for the DecAid Appeal. It attracted a record crowd of more than 3,000 people as the Gunpowder Plot was re-enacted in the village. The annual event was a huge success and raised £1500 for the DecAid charities.

A bonfire was constructed as a replica of the Houses of Parliament and Sidbury’s own Guy Fawkes, Keith Hudson, lit the fuse before the structure burned to the ground.

A dazzling 20 minute show saw £7,000 worth of fireworks ignited.

Band the Raphaelites also entertained huge crowd that consumed 30 gallons of mulled wine, 480 pints of beer and cider, 10 gallons of tea and coffee, 200 toffee apples, one pig roast, 800 burgers and scores of soft drinks.

A dry and mild Saturday evening with little wind boosted the event in the grounds of Sidbury Manor.

The DecAid team would like to thank the 30-strong organising committee and Sir John Cave for choosing to support DecAid with this amazing event and for raising so much money.
