Xander Rawlins to Perform for DecAid

Monday, December 13, 2010

Devon man Captain Xander Rawlins is coming to Exeter for one of his first live performances following the release of his Christmas single, “1000 miles apart”, which he wrote whilst serving with the Grenadier Guards in Afghanistan.

The song, which will be released today, 13th December, is a strong contender to become this year’s Christmas number one. His odds are rising quickly with William Hill now offering 7:1(at time of writing) making him third in line for the number one spot.

Rawlins describes himself on his Facebook page saying, “I'm a Devon boy at heart but am still deciding where I will be in body. London it is for now...”. He is coming back to Devon on 16th December to give a live performance of his single in support of DecAid, a local appeal, which launched in Exeter in October this year.

DecAid is organising a carol service in Exeter Castle to honour the 10th Christmas that the British troops will be spending in Afghanistan. The service will remember all of the members of the forces and their families who are separated at this time. Everyone is welcome to attend the evening’s festivities which will be followed by mulled wine and mince pies in the main hall of the castle. There will be a suggested donation of £2 on the gate which will be donated to DecAid’s three nominated service charities: SSAFA Forces Help, BLESMA and Talking2Minds. This has been made possible by Exeter Castle who have kindly donated the venue free of charge.

'1000 Miles Apart' is out this week and available to download from all stores including iTunes and Amazon.
