Take part in the music battle of a 'DecAid'

Thursday, April 7, 2011

DecAid, the national appeal to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the conflict in Afghanistan, has recently launched a ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition in association with Forth One radio.

A panel of judges from Forth One radio and a member of 3 Rifles will pick three final acts who will be given the chance to perform on the Holyrood stage on the 26th of June 2011 in Holyrood Park as part of the National Armed Forces weekend celebrations in Edinburgh, annually attended by thousands. One lucky winning band will be selected on the day and awarded a full day recording time at a professional studio.

It is open to any band over the age of 18 who lives in a 50 mile radius of Edinburgh. Entries are now open for bands to send in their demo tracks and they will be whittled down to 5 acts who will perform live at Edinburgh’s Cabaret Voltaire nightclub on the 26th May 2011, before being selected for the Armed Forces celebration event.

DecAid is a national, charity appeal that has been set up by students to raise money for three service charities through the running of six high profile events during the summer of 2011. They hope to raise a minimum of £350,000 for three service charities that help current and ex-servicemen and women, and their families, who have been affected by the conflict in Afghanistan since it began in 2001.

This is a great opportunity for people to show their support of the armed forces and for up and coming bands to get fantastic exposure and crucial recording time!
